Parent Aide In-Home Program
The Parent Aide Program offers free, home-based education for parents of children ages birth to twelve who are in their care. Over the course of about a year, parents are matched with a Parent Aide—a mentor who understands the challenges of parenting and serves as both a role model and instructor. Parent Aides meet with parents in their homes, offering personalized lessons and support on key parenting issues to help them navigate the challenges of raising young children.
Benefits
During a Parent Aide visit, the focus is tailored to the parent’s specific challenges and the ages of the children. Examples include watching videos on managing sibling rivalry, discussing effective discipline techniques, learning ways to support a baby’s development, or creating a schedule to help with daily routines like meals, baths, and bedtime. A Parent Aide may be a good fit for you if you can commit to weekly meetings, want to feel more confident and relaxed in your parenting, have full custody of a child age 12 or younger, and are not actively abusing drugs or alcohol (being in recovery is acceptable).
Requirements
Must have legal custody of child and currently living in your home
